[pann] Why NU’EST shouldn’t be cursed at

(t/n: this is also a rebuttal post to the one about NU’EST being ‘well promoted’ by Pledis)
The Pledis kids are being cursed at a lot now.
If the 3 Pledis kids entering the Top 11 didn’t happen, I probably wouldn’t even have a reason to write this post. It must be a crime to be popular. Since you can’t diss their skills, character, nor visuals, you must’ve had to hang onto the fact that they’ve promoted before and gather all the evidence to make a sincere post like that.
You guys keep saying that they don’t match the purpose of the program, are you guys the PD?

Although the desperation to have proper promotions is the same for everyone, it’s hard to erase the feeling that the starting line is different.
Ahn Junyoung PD: “I tried to express this through the teaser videos. Last year’s Season 1 tried to convey the message of debuting, but this year after having done Season 1, I wanted to capture the story of debut, and what happens after it. Like what was previously said, in a year there are a countless number of idol groups debuting, but it’s hard to survive. The music industry is like a soundless battlefield. I felt that I had to give these kids a chance. I wanted to capture story of after the debut, and in order to debut they have to mould and polish their skills and charms well during their trainee period. Instead of thinking that the purpose of the program has changed, please think of it as having evolved.”
Head of Variety Department Kim Yongbum: Regarding the voting, I too saw it from the perspective of an audience. Based on last year, when kids who already had a fandom came onto the show, although in the beginning the influence of their fandom is present, but later the number of voters exceed 1 million, so their skills become the base and they can appeal the charms they carry, so I don’t think [having an existing fandom] is obvious in the end.”
Firstly, I’ll talk about the post ‘Facts about NU’EST’ that’s on trending.
(To think that as a fan I have to prove that they were a failed group, I hate this situation a lot tooㅋㅋ)
I’ll say this first. I know that although their promotions don’t seem like much, it’s a dream-like opportunity to a lot of trainees. However, what I want to say is that their promotions were not so great to have given them enormous benefits ‘to the point where they have to leave Produce, or to the point where their coming onto Produce is unfair’.
1. MV viewsYes, like what you guys said, it’s hard for many idols to have their MVs surpass 10 million views. But I’m saying this clearly, it’s been 2 months since Produce started airing. NU’EST have always been at the centre of the topic. Amongst those views, there’s a lot there are from fans and viewers who watched it after Produce. It’s the same for their fancafe. The amount of members has increased by almost double the original amount. It’s method to fact-check is simple. Have any of you guys searched for and watched their MVs on YouTube before Produce aired? Have you ever heard their songs? Did you know even one member of the group?
2. They release albums every year?Firstly, they are not kids who have had sufficient activities in Korea every year. Also, isn’t it expected for a company to release albums so as to somehow obtain a surplus/profit? In the end their albums failed so they were sent overseas. Also did you guys know that if you combine all their activities in Korea, it’s really not much? Those kids kept promoting overseas because they were not well received in Korea. Amongst those albums, there are many that were released overseas.
3. They’ve promoted overseasAccording to your words, having stood on many stages even if they were overseas was a valuable experience, and is an opportunity that other trainees yearn for? So that means now all the trainees what to be a group like NU’EST? But that’s not true. They want to become groups like EXO and BTS who are popular in Korea. What’s the point of promoting as a group that isn’t given any attention at all in their home country. Probably no one would want thatㅋㅋ Also the treatment these kids received when they were promoting overseas is linked below so do read it.
4. 1st place nominees on a music broadcast
1st place nominees on a music broadcastㅋㅋㅋand on The Show too… A 6 year old idol getting nominated barely once and yet you’re taking that [and posting about it]. They didn’t even win 1st place in the end tooㅋㅋ Also if you guys are thinking ‘a 6 year old group getting nominated for 1st place even once is an enviable and good experience’ then I really have no wordsㅋㅋㅋ Just try to think about your picks debuting and promoting for 6 years and only being nominated for 1st place once.

5. Doing 3 solo reality programs

A celebrity who’s been around for 6 years but barely having 3 programs is all the more proving their popularity. Also those were when they were 1, 2 years into their debut, meaning they were filmed when the Pledis kids were 18, 19 years old. Things like NU’EST’s Diary…after that they didn’t even have one broadcast…Ha… But have you guys even seen that program at least once? If not did you even know that that program existed? [The way you say it] makes people think they appeared as fixed casts on a regular program.

6,7. ISAC, Weekly Idol, Vapp
Yes, they appeared on ISAC before, and appeared on Weekly Idol before. They also did Vapp [lives]. But the fact you really have to focus on is not that ‘they appeared’. Just because they appeared, it must’ve been all happy and good? Think about it. During ISAC, other idols have hundreds of fans coming to cheer them on and they can spend time and laugh and have fun with their fans, but I saw posts that [NU’EST] were disregarded by fans of other group there. Saying “who even are theyㅋㅋㅋ” Also how many seconds did their faces come out on ISAC??? Anyone remembers? Even if you search for it now there isn’t a full version ㅋㅋㅋ Is appearing [on the show] everything? No one paid attention to them, what about that is happy.  What do you mean by enjoyed.
V app? Have you seen their comments box? They’re all foreign fans. In the beginning their popularity wasn’t even enough to fill 100 people at their fansign, stop trying to find things at strange places…
In conclusion, it’s true that they’ve had more activities in the entertainment industry compared to other trainees, but kids, those promotions are not that great that they have to drop out from Produce…
Also what is this about how Produce is only the last chance to other trainees? This program is all the more the best opportunity for the other trainees to get their faces known. It’s a program that helps them have an exciting start. ㅋㅋㅋ (Of course this is not the case for some trainees too. There must also be kids who have come on while looking at the end. But NU’EST definitely came on while seeing the end.) Isn’t this all the more really the last chance for the NU’EST kids? They’re kids that haven’t experienced anything other than failure for the long duration of 6 years, kids that have walked on a dark road. How hard do you think the decision to come onto this program must’ve been? They have to start from the beginning with other freshmen, it must’ve hurt their pride, and in episodes 1,2 they received nothing but hateㅋㅋㅋ How scared they must’ve been. To have to be evaluated by the public again.
Kim Jonghyun said this to Kwon Hyunbin, ‘If I don’t make it this time, it’s the end for me.’ Wow, a 23 year old saying this was really very shocking, and it hurt my heart. Their feeling desperate is the same as other trainees. There’s nothing unfair. Maybe if in the beginning their fandom was strong so it influenced the voting… but that’s not the case, so how can you say that their having promoted before is unfair.
If it’s according to your words, NU’EST shouldn’t have came onto a program like this at all but rather for the remaining 2 years of their contract, pass their time by promoting overseas and in Korea where they don’t receive any attention, and then disband without any sound? Is that what you’re saying? Who’s throwing the stone to kids who are staring a new challenge. By your logic, students who repeat years shouldn’t be allowed to take the SATs again. They were given one chance and since they failed, they should give that chance to the current students. Also if the fact that they’ve debuted is unfair, then the other trainees who’ve already debuted, and Produce Season 1’s DIA etc. should also have dropped out from the show, why are you only doing this to NU’EST.
They are kids who, while promoting from 18 years old to 23 years old in Korea, have had a longer time receiving hurt. They’ve been through countless failures at such a young age. They’re starting to receive acknowledgement from people for their skills and character through the broadcast, and they’re only just receiving attention from Koreans 6 years since their debut. Their getting into the TOP 11 is all from their own efforts. More than anything else, these kids are really kind kinds. Apart from their skills and their debut experience, they are really proper kids. They are prepared kids. They are nice kids who are considerate to and get along well with other trainees and work hard in all the assigned practices. Please refrain from curses that are too much.
I think that in the time you take to write posts like that that hate on the Pledis kids, it’ll be more effective to write a business post for your picks.
Lastly, saying that Pledis pushed NU’EST is really bullshit. Definitely read this at least once.
Pledis’ mistreatment of NU’EST (korean) (eng)
Why NU’EST are worth cheering for (korean) (eng)

Also, I’m pleading you guys. I’m not going to say please vote for the Pledis kids because they are pitiful. But please refrain from overboard personal attacks. Like how your pick is precious to you, the Pledis kids are precious to us.

  1. [+128, -25] ㅠㅠExactly, when was it when they were all hating on NU’EST for flopping, now they’re suddenly saying it’s unfair because the kids did what they had to and are quite popular now
  2. [+125, -31] If you really think that NU’EST promoting and performing overseas was so amazing and is something the trainee you’re cheering for is envious about, then tell them to not get rid of the concert group but rather put it in. It’s standing on the stage of their dreams, I don’t know why everyone is so against the concert group.
  3. [+125, -27] Agreed,,, but honestly there are a lot of debuted kids who came on, I can’t understand why only NU’EST are being cursed at
