[news] ‘Produce101’ 2nd Ranking Announcements 1st place is Park Jihoon? Kim Jonghyun? Kang Daniel?

In Season 1’s week 6 rankings, 10 out of the top 11 debuted
Unpredictable TOP11 rankings
Will the top-ranked trainees keep their positions? Or will the lower-ranked trainees revolt?
In Produce 101 Season 1, the ranking that was the most similar to the final was the newly revealed Week 6 rankings, where all the votes had been reset after the 1st eliminations.
At the time, the TOP 11 were (in order) ‘Kim Sejung, Choi Yoojung, Kang Mina, Jeon Somi, Kim Nayoung, Joo Kyulkyung, Kim Sohye, Kim Doyeon, Yoo Yeonjung, Jung Chaeyeon, Im Nayoung’. Although there were a few changes in the ranks in the final rankings, other than Kim Nayoung, all of them entered the TOP 11 and debuted as I.O.I.
Although there’s a difference between Produce 101’s Season 1 and Season 2, the first rankings revealed after the reset has the meaning of showing which fandom is the most bonded.
There have been continuous changes to the rankings for this Week 6 Ranking of Produce 101 Season 2.
With one strong wink, Maroo’s Park Jihoon had maintained an immovable 1st place from weeks 1 to 4. However, he dropped an alarmingly 2 ranks and was pushed down to 3 weeks, and wartortle leader Pledis’ Kim Jonghyun took the new throne.
Starting from 23rd, and moving into TOP 11 for the first time as 5th, MMO’s Kang Daniel took 2nd place and showed a scary growth. Brave’s Kim Samuel who was 2nd in the previous rankings, dropped 15 ranks to 17th place and was pushed out of the top 11 for the first time.
Cre.ker’s Joo Haknyeon and Brand New Music’s Lee Daewhi who were both in Top 11 through all the rankings, took 9th and 10th place respectively, ending up in a situation where they can’t feel relieved, and Yuehwa’s Ahn Hyeongseop plunged 14 ranks to 20th place.

Amidst the fierce ranking-war for the TOP 11 places, the attention of the national producers is hot on who will take the TOP 1 throne in the 2nd ranking announcements.

The prime 1st place nominee is Park Jihooon.
Park Jihoon was 1st place in the rankings through all 4 weeks. (t/n: reporter lists every ranking in order which I omitted)
Also Park Jihoon’s was able to maintain his rank safely with the even support he received. In the rankings by age and by gender revealed during the 1st eliminations, he took 1st amongst those in their 10s and 20s, 4th amongst those in their 30s, 1st amongst females, and 4th amongst males.
The fact that Park Jihoon had his 1st place seat stolen for the first time in the Week 6 rankings could stimulate his fandom, showing a big possibility of bouncing back on the rankings.

Kim Jonghyun pushed past the immovable 1st place Park Jihoon and achieved 1st place, so the national producers’ curiousity as to whether he will also receive 1st place in the 2nd eliminations is growing.
Kim Jonghyun started at 15th place, and in the second week entered the TOP 11 for the first time at 11th place. Although he faltered at 13th place for week 3, he repeatedly showed his humble self and magnanimity as a leader, and has been steadily rising on the rankings.
In the Group Evaluations held over episodes 3 and 4, Kim Jonghyun taught group member Kwon Hyunbin, who as an F-grader was slower in learning choreography, with tailored instructions and boosted his confidence.
Also in the interim evaluations, when Trainer Kwon Jaeseung criticised the trainee who wasn’t familiar with the choreography, Kim Jonghyun showed his sense of responsibility as a leader by saying, “It’s because I didn’t do my role [as a leader] properly. We should be able to confidently do it by the performance day.”
When team member YG K Plus’ Kwon Hyunbin wasn’t focusing on the choreography and being tired, Kim Jonghyun told him, “You can’t keep being marked as someone who’s bad at this,” showing his honest side by saying, “I don’t know with what heart you guys are doing ‘Produce 101’, but I have to this. If I don’t do well it’s the end for me.”
Even in Position Evaluations aired through episode 6, Kim Jonghyun who was the leader again didn’t just help Cube’s Lai Guanlin with fixing his pronunciation when he found it hard, he also helped when team members ONO’s Jang Moonbok and Han Ahreum’s Kim Taemin when they had difficulties. He touched the hearts of national producers when he honestly confessed his feelings about being scared and afraid about participating on Produce 101 through their stage of Mino’s ‘Fear’.
Kim Jonghyun took 1st place in his group during the on-set evaluations and obtained a 10,000 vote benefit, and in that state,  whether he’ll be able to achieve 1st place in the 2nd eliminations as well is being watched with keen interest.

Kang Daniel received attention for his strong pink hair, and went up to  A class during the ‘It’s Me’ evaluations with his outstanding skills.
Kang Daniel showed his cool appearance on stage and his hidden hardworking appearance off stage, receiving the overwhelming support of females and his ranking is climbing upwards vertically.
During the Group Battles, Kang Daniel danced on the ‘Sorry Sorry’ stage and showed off his sexy charms to his hearts content, and elicited the cheers of females by showing his impressive abs during ‘Get Ugly’ for the Position Evaluations.
Kang Daniel achieved 1st place amongst those in their 30s and is receiving overwhelming support, recording 1st place in the views of his 1-on-1 fancam.
National producers have high anticipation as to whether Kang Daniel will beat Park Jihoon who was 1st place for 4 weeks and Kim Jonghyun who captured 1st place for the first time to achieve 1st place in the next eliminations.

Other than these 3, the other who have a possibility of achieving 1st place are those who received the benefit of 110,000 votes after taking 1st place in their respective positions. (t/n: omitted the part explaining 10,000 and 100,000 vote benefits)
1st place trainees by group from episode 6 (t/n: rephrased):
  • (Rap) Fear: Kim Jonghyun
  • (Vocal) If It Was You: Kim Yongguk
  • (Dance) Right Round: Joo Haknyeon
  • (Rap) Boys and Girls: Im Youngmin
  • (Dance) Shape of You: Noh Taehyun
  • (Vocal) Playing With Fire: Jung Sewoon
Amongst these, Chun’s Kim Yongguk, whose ‘If It Was You’ group was called Avengers despite being made up of mid to low ranked trainees, received the high praise that his ‘tone is pretty’ from the trainers, experiencing a sharp rise in popularity.
Kim Yongguk, who had no screentime with his low confidence in the previous broadcasts, has been reevaluated through this Position Evaluations, taking 1st place in his team and receiving 10,000 votes as a benefit. At this point, anticipations are focused on whether he will be able to reach 1st place for his position and see a sharp increase in his ranking.
Brand New Music’s Im Youngmin didn’t give up on first-time rap challenger Kim Dongbin and consoled him, teaching him rap from the beginning, resulting in Im Youngmin having insufficient time for his own practice and making a mistake on stage. Im Youngmin showed his humane side as he shed tears for making a mistake in his speciality, rapping, while helping another trainee, and incited the pity of national producers.
Last week, Im Youngmin rose 15 ranks sharply and achieved 12th place. As he receives a 10,000 vote benefit from being 1st place in his Position Evaluation group, there is increasing attention as to what his rank in the next eliminations will be.
In the rankings received up till now, there have been a total of 18 trainees who have entered TOP 11. Amongst these, Park Jihoon, Lee Daehwi, Joo Haknyeon, Fantagio’s Ong Seongwoo, and Lai Guanlin have never fallen out of the TOP 11 once. These trainees were also within 11th place in the by age and by gender rankings revealed during the 1st eliminations, and can be seen as the trainees with a very high possibility of debuting.
However, trainees who have rised quickly in ranks, such as C2K’s Kim Sungri, HF Music’s Park Woodam, personal trainee Kim Jaehwan, Starship’s Jung Sewoon, who have captured national producers with their outstanding vocal skills, WH Creative’s Seo Sunghyuk whose hardworking appearance has seen the light, and Hunus’ Kim Sanggyun, FNC’s Yoo Heeseung, personal trainee Kim Sangbin, Pledis’ Kang Dongho, and more, have sufficient possibility to endanger [Jihoon, Daehwi, Haknyeon, Seongwoo and Guanlin’s] places. Also there could be trainees who are re-evaluated like Park Woodam and Kim Yongguk in the remaining episodes.
The trainees whose ranks have fallen—Jang Moonbok, Kim Samuel, Ahn Hyeongseop, Joo Haknyeon, Yoon Jisung, Bae Jinyoung, Lee Euiwoong—can also reclaim their positions at anytime, so it’s a situation that’s very hard to predict.
On the other hand, the 2nd eliminations will be carried using a combination of online votes, the on-set position evaluations, and the additional benefits, and the trainees from 36th place onwards will be eliminated.
Following the 1st ranking announcements which have resulted in many changes, there is a large amount of attention focused on which trainees will survive and which will be sent home in the 2nd eliminations, and who will take the throne of 1st place.
